War is peace, freedom is slavery, and everywhere you go, Big Brother is watching you. In his classic story, Orwell depicts with great power the horrors of man's fate in a society where everything that is not prohibited is compulsory.
You think you know the story. You may have seen the movie. This production is unlike anything you've seen. Using video and other multimedia, we will be bringing this incredible and important story to life in front of your eyes.
On the toes of the 2004 Presidential elections and after a series of questionable changes in the political climate have occurred in the United States ranging from the invasion of Iraq to the U.S. Patriot Act, this play has become more important than ever. Scarlet Mask presents the only officially authorized adaptation of 1984 written by Robert Owens, Wilton E Hall, Jr , and William A Miles, Jr. This production marks the beginning of a new era for the organization as it heads into its first year under a new structure.
Tickets for this production are $10 for general admission and $5 for students with ID.

This production is sponsored in part by
the Office of Student Affairs, the Department of Theatre, the College of the Arts,
the Advanced Computing Center for Arts and Design, and Theatres Against War.

It is produced through special arrangement with the
Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois.
